U15 FOOTY COACH

We're excited to announce the return of Rob 'Ferg' Ferguson as coach of our U15's boys football team in 2026. Ferg will once again be assisted by Chris Curcio, following a successful partnership this season.

Mike Lacy - U13A Head Coach

Mike is excited to be coaching in our local community again this season. Mike is passionate about developing young players, building strong skills, working together as a team, and making footy fun. Mike coached the U13Bs in 2025, and in his younger days he ran around for the Woodend Seniors.  Mike is proud to be giving back to his club and is looking forward to a big year with the kids and helping them grow on and off the field.

Daniel Gleeson & Sean Reidy - U13 Assistant Coaches

Daniel brings a broad coaching background across basketball, American football, and baseball, with a strong belief that the best teams are built on effort, teamwork, and continual improvement.

Sean has been coaching junior footy for 5 years, coaching from U9s through to U13s over recent years.  Football has always been a passion of Sean's and his efforts to give back to his junior club over so many years is inspiring.

U17 FOOTY COACH

We are excited to announce the reappointment of Paul 'Pods' Podbury as our U17s footy coach in 2026! This follows a very successful year as coach to the U17s in 2025.

Tim Gross - U11A Head Coach

Tim grew up playing footy for the Boort Magpies in the Loddon Mallee region and went on to play across 3 different states .  He has even managed to play a few games for the Woodend Masters Football Club since moving to the area.

Last year Tim was an assistant coach of the under 11’s.  Tim loves his footy and is passionate about guiding our young players.

Tom Kindred - U11A Assistant Coach

Tom has 2 sons who play football for the Woodend Hawks in under 11s and under 13s.  Last year Tom was the runner for the under 11C team and really enjoyed helping out the team.  This year Tom has decided to take it one step further as an assistant coach.

Tim Jones - U11B Head Coach

Tim is a former Woodend junior and senior footballer, and now a proud coach giving back to the club.  After two seasons coaching Under 9s, Tim is excited to be back in 2026!  In his spare time, Tim loves being with family, running and cheering on the Pies and the MCG.

Tim has a lot of football knowledge and is passionate about the WJFNC.  We are thrilled to have Tim guiding our U11B team in season 2026.  Go Hawks!

Sam Hunt - U9A Head Coach

Sam Hunt is back coaching our youngest Hawk recruits this year!

After coaching for the first time in 2025 and enjoying the journey with the U9’s, Sam is really excited to be back leading the U9s in 2026. Footy has always been a big part of Sam’s life, and helping kids in our community transition from Auskick to their first age-level teams has been a fun and rewarding experience for him. It doesn’t matter if the kids are right into their footy or just want to have a run around and be part of a team, they will take something away from the program.

Rhys Nuttall & Dan Morgan - U9 Assistant Coaches

We are also excited to announce that Rhys Nuttall and Dan Morgan will be assistant coaches to Sam. Rhys grew up on a farm near Bendigo, played junior football at Newbridge and Golden Square, and later finished his career with the Fitzroy Reds in Melbourne. Now living in the Macedon Ranges, he’s a passionate Essendon supporter and proud dad of three footy‑playing boys.

Dan is a proud Queenslander and lifelong rugby union fan who, after nearly two decades in Victoria, is slowly embracing AFL as a devoted Cats supporter. He’s enthusiastic about coaching the U9 Hawks and sharing his hard‑earned scrum, line‑out and drop‑kick wisdom.
